A New Beginning for New Achievements
The Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sport has made comprehensive preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year. A total of 700 young people were admitted to the Institute. During April and May, open championships in various sports were held with the participation of graduating students from general education and sports schools, as well as sports-oriented young people. The competitions held under the title “Talented Youth – A New Generation of Athletes” were particularly significant. Based on their results, more than 50 young people were admitted to the Institute.
During the entrance examinations, the applicants’ previous sporting achievements were given special consideration. Athletes who had won prizes at international, national, regional, city and district-level competitions were highly valued. The achievements of members of the national teams of Turkmenistan were also taken into account. On the recommendation of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sport of Turkmenistan, 103 outstanding athletes, including members of the national teams, were admitted to the Institute.
Among the newly admitted students are 8 Masters of Sport, 27 Candidates for Master of Sport, 49 winners of international sports competitions and 162 winners of national-level competitions. In addition, 117 students are members of Turkmenistan’s national teams in various sports.
Today, the integration of science, education and sport is of particular importance. The further development of sport is inseparable from scientific approaches, advanced technologies and research. Therefore, the Institute pays special attention to developing students’ interest in scientific research and strengthening the scientific foundations of sporting achievements. Young researchers, teachers and students of the Institute actively participate in annual scientific competitions and achieve notable results.
In September, Turkmenistan will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its Independence with great festivities. The Institute’s academic staff and student-athletes will work diligently to welcome this historic occasion with worthy achievements, including medals at international competitions and further strengthening the prestige of the national sport.
The new academic year will mark the beginning of new goals, achievements and victories. Specialists in education and sport will continue their dedicated work to advance national education and sport and to prepare a new generation of highly qualified athletes capable of taking Turkmen sport to even greater heights. May the Hero-Arkadag and the Hero Serdar, who create broad opportunities for the education of young people and the development of national sport, remain healthy, and may their noble works for the benefit of the nation always prosper.
